Sorry Readers!

If anyone has been checking back in on this blog to see no posts… well this is an apology. Just to let you guys know, I kept checking back in on my blog, just summer was so fun I never had the time to post. Anyway, school is back on, and the blog can get started! I’m changing the question of the week soon and will write a full post explaining my first week of middle school! I know that it will be tough to get all my readers back, but that’s not gonna stop me from posting!

It feels great to be back folks, I really missed WordPress. I will try my best not to quit again, and now that school is around and I have things to talk about posting will be a lot easier. I’m happy to say Surviving The Middle is now officially in full swing!

Question of the Week #1

Welcome readers to a new series I’m starting on the blog. Every Thursday I’ll be putting up a poll in the sidebar that asks something about the blog. This week, it concerns the theme of the blog. Should I keep Mystique, or switch to The Morning After?

Next Thursday, after the voting is over, I’ll post the results and say what the next week’s question will be. Right now, Mystique leads by one vote. Let your voice be heard, get out there and answer the poll! You have until next Thursday to do so.

*Yes, the Question of the Week posts probably will be this short, but it still gets the point across*

A Little Look at the Stats

Ah, stats. It's fun to watch them grow, right?

Hello readers, I think its time, now that the blog has been around for a month, to show some stats. I don’t mean the stats you can see from WordPress, I mean the ones from other sites.

I’m happy to say we finally have been indexed and ranked by Google.

Currently its at zero, which isn’t surprising, but I added the checker to the sidebar, so you can keep checking in to see if we ever get a good rank going! If you want to check the rank of any website, go to this site: http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php

The official logo of Alexa Internet

On Alexa (http://www.alexa.com/), I’m baffled by the information on the site. Globally, it’s ranked 6,433,093rd, which isn’t much to be excited about. However, in Canada, it’s ranked 153,960th. We get over 75%, 3/4, of our readers from Canada! More specifically, it’s drifting around the thousandth most popular site in the city of Nanaimo (nicknamed “bathtub racing capital of the world”), in Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Apparently someone from Nanaimo loves my blog. If you are this person, please reveal yourself, there’s no shame here!

So there it is, a little look at the stats. If there’s any other stats you want to know about the site, comment about it and I’ll do some research then get back to you. Happy statting (if statting is a word)!

Favorite Thing About Summer Break?

*Thank you challahgirl for giving me this idea in the comments.*

Ah, summer break. Sweet, sweet summer break.

In response to a post I made just recently, challahgirl said:

“How about a post detailing your favorite thing about being on summer break?

I’d be interested in reading that.”

Well, here you go, challahgirl, a post answering your question. What is my favorite thing about being on summer break? I put a lot of thought into this. Is it being able to stay up late, then sleep in? Is it having no homework every night? Obviously I can just pick one of these, but then there’d be nothing else to write. That’s no fun. And besides, a witty answer is just the thing I need to get your attention.

After careful consideration, I decided that my favorite thing about summer break is… (drum roll).

Thank you.

No stress. It combines all the great things about summer. I can stay up late, sleep in, have fun, all carefree, I don’t have to worry about a thing. No school drama, homework, or waking up early, which all will be a big shock to my system once school starts (ugh).

Yeah, I realize it’s not near a normal answer. But hey, I’m not near a normal tween (you guys should know that by now). So there it is. Low stress factor is my favorite thing about summer break. If there are any other kids out there (or adults that get summer off, like teachers), comment on your answer to the question. Also, remember to enjoy this break whatever your answer is. You’re headed for plenty of months of work/school.

Site Updates

Hey everyone, just dropping a quick post here to say that the site has been updated! The policies that used to say “coming soon” now actually say something! I fixed up the blogroll a little bit, and I’m still pondering about a change of theme.

More about the change of theme, I still haven’t got any answers yet. So here goes the question again…

Should I keep the theme Mystique, or change to The Morning After?

Another question, how do you like the updates? Is there anything else you’d like to see? Please readers, I need feedback! Do it, for my birthday (which in fact is coming up, July 18th, details later)!
